Vietnam + Cambodia, March 14-21, 2027

$2,999.00

Join Culture + Compass Adventure Co’s group retreat for women across some of the most gorgeous countries in Southeast Asia: Vietnam and Cambodia. Vietnam has become quite the tourist destination in the last few years, and for good reason. Vietnam has it all: delicious food, charming boutique accommodations, a rich culture, and stunning nature. Cambodia is equally rich in culture, cuisine, and fantastic warm weather - all best explored by the activities we will be doing such as light bike riding, kayaking, temple walks at sunrise, food tours, and an overnight cruise on Ha Lang Bay. We will see a UNESCO World Heritage Site and soak it all in. We will be going in the peak season for travel in this area in an effort to avoid the heavy rainfall and also the intense summer heat. This trip will be led by our founder, Hannah. You can get to know her on Instagram, at both the company socials and her personal:

March 14: Fly into Hanoi, Vietnam today, landing by 4pm if possible.  Transportation will be provided for you upon arrival today from the airport to the hotel. Check into the hotel any time after 4pm, rest, and then we will walk to our first group dinner; getting a glimpse of the nightlife in the Old Quarter of Hanoi. We will likely go to sleep early tonight to tackle jet lag and rest up for the week ahead!

March 15: Begin our first full day with hotel breakfast, and from here, today is really all about EATING. We will start by visiting a local market to learn about ingredients, then go to a 5-star villa for a cooking class to make Vietnamese cuisine. In this kitchen we’ll be learning in, we will also be supporting sustainable employment for ethnic minority women who work as the beloved butlers at this villa. Later this afternoon, we will join a food tour where we will visit the iconic train street, try 4+ local dishes, and wander the Old Quarter of Hanoi. Be prepared for lots of walking and even more eating today!

March 16: Hotel breakfast, then we escape the hustle and bustle of Hanoi and hop in a vehicle to venture to the stunning Ninh Binh area. This will be a 12+ hour day packed with gorgeous views. We will start with a little road trip to Ninh Binh, ride bikes around Hoa Lu, stop for lunch, take a short boat cruise on the Trang An (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and end the day with a short but steep hike at the Mua Caves for a stunning view of the green valley. We will have a couple hour road trip back to Hanoi tonight, and have a late dinner before falling asleep.

March 17: Today begins our cruise of Ha Long Bay. We will shuttle a few hours to the coast where we will board a beautiful mini cruise ship, welcomed with welcome beverages, and check into cabins with balconies overlooking the ocean. These accommodations make this experience perfect; whether it is raining and we cozy up on balconies, or if it’s sunny and we want to enjoy views from the top deck. We will enjoy lunch on the boat, then stop in Trau Bau to hop off, swim, kayak, and enjoy the clear waters and limestone cliffs. We will try to catch sunset over the Gulf of Tonkin, and end the evening with dinner and an optional cooking lesson. After dinner, we have the opportunity to try night squid fishing off the boat! If this isn’t your thing, you can watch a movie with the group or just catch a great night of sleep.

March 18: Wake up on the boat before sunrise for an optional Tai Chi session and catch views of Lan Ha Bay at dawn. We will have brunch before disembarking the boat at about 11:30am, followed by a 3 hour drive back to Hanoi. Since we will have all of our luggage with us, we will head straight to the airport, where we can grab a snack and wait for our evening flight to Cambodia. We will fly a quick 1.5 hours to Siem Reap, Cambodia, & go to bed to rest up for the next day’s adventure.

March 19:  This morning we will enjoy a hotel breakfast before heading out to tour a local and sustainable Lotus Silk Farm. We will see hundreds of gorgeous lotus plants and learn the process of harvesting the world’s rarest textile: lotus silk. We will take a short boat excursion through the lotus fields and try lotus tea and biscuits. We will do a quick lunch, then be picked up to go see Tonle Sap Lake, where we will hop on a traditional wooden boat to go see the Kampong Phluk Floating Village. This is an amazing floating city where we will see houses on stilts in the middle of the lake, children that paddle little boats to school, and learn about how these families have lived on and fished this lake for hundreds of years. We will visit the mangroves and attempt to spot unique birds over the lake. We will catch sunset on the water before heading back to Siem Reap for dinner.

*note: we must have knees and shoulders covered for this activity out of respect for the village community.

March 20:  Grand finale for our final day together! This morning we will have an early 4am pickup to take us to catch the sunrise at Ankor Wat. They will give us a light traditional breakfast, but we will pack snacks to keep us going in the early morning. We will explore the Bayon Temple and Ta Prohm temple. We will walk the ancient grounds and experience a monk blessing at a local pagoda. We will get back to Siem Reap around 1:30pm, where we will have free time to nap, wander at your own pace, and do your final souvenir shopping before we reconvene for a final group dinner.

March 21: Hotel breakfast, then the trip is officially over. Culture + Compass will provide a ride to the Siem Reap airport for you today, or you can continue your adventure in Southeast Asia from here on your own.
